Can I put dozer shoes on an excavator chain?
Expert_Answer
Usually, no. Dozer shoes and excavator shoes are designed for different undercarriage systems, so they are not directly interchangeable. The bolt pattern, rail width, pitch, grouser height, and load distribution can all differ between a dozer track chain and an excavator chain. Even if they appear similar, the wrong shoe can cause bolt damage, poor ground contact, faster pin and bushing wear, and track instability.
The correct shoe must match the chain type, pitch, rail height, and machine application. In some cases, a custom solution may be possible, but it should be checked carefully against the exact undercarriage dimensions.
If you share the machine model and current track specs, VANROCK can help identify the correct shoes and supply a quote.
