What is a track group
A track group is a factory-assembled unit of track chain and mounted track shoes — delivered as one piece, ready to install on the machine.
Instead of sourcing a chain, forty-plus shoes and several hundred bolts and nuts separately and assembling them in the workshop, the machine gets one matched, torqued, ready-to-fit assembly.

Configuration
A track group is defined by four choices: chain type (greased & sealed or oil-lubricated), number of links, shoe width and grouser profile. The same machine model often runs several valid configurations depending on terrain and application — which is why link count and shoe width of the old track should always be confirmed before ordering.

When to replace
When both the chain and the shoes are approaching their wear limits, replacing the complete group is usually more economical than replacing them in stages — and it resets the whole running system to a common baseline.
Fitting new shoes on a stretched chain, or a new chain under worn shoes, forces new components to follow the wear pattern of old ones and shortens their life.
