Check whether the cord package is visible, whether the cut is near the drive lugs or edge, and whether the track is showing abnormal wear such as chunking, cracking, or tracking off the frame. If the cut is small and the tread is still intact, a temporary repair or patch may extend use for a short time, but it is not something to depend on for long-term service.

Practical decision rule: if the damage is only cosmetic, you may be able to keep running with close monitoring.
