Store rubber tracks flat or on their side on a clean surface, indoors, away from direct sunlight, ozone sources (welders, electric motors), fuels, oils and solvents — all of which age rubber prematurely. Keep them off hot surfaces and away from sub-zero draughts if possible; extreme cold makes the compound brittle until it warms up. Do not hang a track on a single narrow support for long periods, as this creates a permanent set in the steel cord at the bend. If a machine with rubber tracks is parked for months, park on boards rather than soil, release some tension, and move the machine occasionally so the same lugs don't carry the load all winter. Stored correctly, an unused track keeps its properties for years.
