A bulldozer undercarriage is the complete track-and-support system that carries the machine, transfers power to the ground, and absorbs shock while pushing. Its core parts are track chains with pins and bushings, track shoes, sprockets or segment groups, front idlers, track adjusters and recoil springs, bottom rollers, carrier rollers, and the supporting frame hardware.

More specifically, the track chain is the moving loop the machine rides on, while the track shoes bolt to it and provide grip. Most dozers use steel shoes with single or double grousers; wider shoes improve flotation in soft ground, while narrower shoes can reduce side loading in harder conditions.
