Choose replacement bulldozer tracks by matching the machine exactly first: model, serial number, track pitch, link count, and pin/bushing design. If you get those wrong, even a track that “looks right” can run poorly or wear out fast. If you only need one part of the undercarriage, consider whether a track chain, track shoes, or a complete track group is the smarter replacement.

Then size the shoes for your ground conditions. Wider shoes improve flotation in soft soil, mud, or swampy work, while narrower shoes usually reduce steering effort, lower stress on the drivetrain, and often last longer in abrasive conditions. The best choice is usually the narrowest shoe that still gives enough flotation and stability for the job. For many dozers, a sealed-and-lubricated chain is a strong option for normal earthmoving because it helps reduce internal wear; dry chains can suit severe abrasion or debris-heavy sites.

Also inspect the rest of the undercarriage before ordering. New tracks on worn sprockets, rollers, or idlers can wear unevenly and shorten the life of the new parts. Common signs you need replacement include stretched chain, worn bushings, cracked or loose shoes, hooked sprocket teeth, and a machine that no longer holds correct track tension. If wear is uneven left to right, check operating habits, alignment, and undercarriage condition before assuming the track itself is the only problem.
