// Q&A · Rubber Tracks

How do you measure a rubber track for a mini excavator?

Expert Answer

A rubber track is usually identified by three measurements: width, pitch, and number of links or drive lugs. Measure the width across the inside of the track, then measure the pitch from the center of one drive lug to the center of the next, and finally count the total number of links/lugs around the track. The result is written in the format width x pitch x links, such as 230x96x33.

For the most accurate reading, measure the track while it is still on the machine if possible, and use a tape measure rather than estimating from the outer rubber. If the old track is worn, check the markings on the inside of the belt and compare them with the machine model, because a stretched or damaged track can be misleading. Also confirm whether your machine uses a mini excavator rubber track, compact track loader track, or another type, since similar sizes may not be interchangeable.

If you are replacing a track, the safest approach is to verify the machine brand, model, and serial number together with the three measurements above. VANROCK supplies rubber tracks for many machine brands through its appointed dealer network, with pricing quoted on request. If your machine is a Caterpillar, Komatsu, Kubota, or another OEM brand, VANROCK is an independent manufacturer and is not affiliated with the OEM.
