// Q&A · Track Tension & Alignment
Why does my excavator pull to one side when driving?
Expert_Answer
An excavator that pulls to one side usually has an undercarriage imbalance or a drive issue. Common causes include uneven track tension, worn or damaged track shoes, frozen or leaking final drive motors, weak hydraulic flow to one side, or excessive wear in rollers, idlers, sprockets, or track chains on one side. A packed undercarriage with mud or debris can also create drag and make the machine veer. Start by checking track tension on both sides, then inspect for oil leaks, abnormal wear, and restricted movement in the rollers and idlers. If the problem continues, have the travel motors and hydraulic system tested. VANROCK supplies track chains, rollers, idlers, sprockets, shoes, and rubber tracks for 54+ brands.
