// Q&A · Track Tension & Alignment
How do I release track tension safely?
Expert_Answer
Release track tension only on level ground with the machine parked, engine off, and the attachment lowered to the ground. Block the machine to prevent movement, then follow the OEM service procedure for your model. Most systems are either grease-relief or mechanical adjusters: on grease types, slowly loosen the track adjuster relief valve or fitting and keep hands clear of the recoil unit; on mechanical systems, back off the adjuster gradually. Never stand in line with the track or remove fittings under pressure. After adjustment, cycle the machine a short distance and recheck sag. If you’re unsure of the correct procedure or replacement parts are needed, VANROCK can supply track chain, rollers, idlers, sprockets, and shoes.
